The ESKA team congratulates Jan Eckhardt, Head of Research and Development, on his election as German speaker in the IEC committee on standardization of miniature fuses and thermal-links, which is responsible for the IEC 60127 series. This standard series covers general requirements and tests for all types of miniature fuse-links – including cartridge fuse-links, sub-miniature fuse-links, universal modular fuse-links and miniature fuse-links for special applications – for the protection of electric appliances, electronic equipment and component parts thereof normally intended to be used indoors. A new part of IEC 60127 relating to miniature fuse-links for special applications with partial-range breaking capacity is currently under development. These fuse-links are designed only for operation under short-circuit conditions and do not provide overload protection.
Requirements and tests for thermal-links intended for incorporation in electrical appliances, electronic equipment and component parts thereof in order to protect them against excessive temperatures are covered in IEC 60691.
We wish Mr. Eckhardt many success!
